Common household dust contains bacteria which trigger chemicals that
may cause common asthma symptoms like wheezing, as well as asthma
attacks.
These bacterial chemicals are known as endotoxins, and homes with
higher concentrations experienced more respiratory difficulties.
The release of endotoxins can cause inflammation of respiratory passages;
this leads to asthma symptoms. In cases where endotoxins were found
in the bedroom floor and bedding, asthma rates were significantly
higher.
